Chao-Yan Chen's residential house design, aptly named "Shining on Rolling Hills," is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature and artistry. The house's unique features and exquisite aesthetics create a captivating living space that seamlessly integrates with its surroundings.

The design of "Shining on Rolling Hills" is characterized by the use of diverse materials, meticulously crafted to resemble the breathtaking landscapes found in nature. As the dawn glows through mist, the awaken earth spreads its vigor in the air that disperses among the rolling hills, the breath-taking visions artistically discovered in the house.

The transitional areas connecting the public spaces figuratively appear as landscapes of rolling hills. The ceilings, walls, and floors are adorned with exquisite textures of stones, mirrors, leathers, artworks, and cabinets, creating a visual feast for the senses. The lights filtering through these distinctive materials spawn vivid variations of scenes, changing in styles over time.

With a space of 297 square meters, "Shining on Rolling Hills" offers a spacious and inviting environment for its residents. The long, broad, and connected public spaces enhance the depth of field, while the delicate layouts and colors manifest a unique style and glamour.

Chao-Yan Chen's design philosophy revolves around the connection between human inclinations and nature, satisfying clients' preferences while incorporating multiple values of design. This approach creates a living space that not only fulfills functional requirements but also elevates the overall aesthetic experience.

The project was completed in May 2018 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. Throughout the design process, the team faced challenges in balancing aesthetic compositions with environmental considerations. However, through innovative experiments and a commitment to uniqueness and originality, they successfully integrated technology and lifestyle, creating a design that embodies diverse tangible and intangible values.

"Shining on Rolling Hills" has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This accolade acknowledges the design's exceptional creativity, resourcefulness, and contribution to improving quality of life.
